In the midst of their lengthy injury list and preparation for their postseason run, the Arizona Cardinals are entering a crucial midway of the season this week.
After losing to the Green Bay Packers 7-1 on Thursday night, Arizona took a four-day break before the Cardinals (7-1) returned to their Tempe practice facility on Tuesday.
The injuries to center Rodney Hudson and quarterback Kyler Murray, respectively, to his left ankle and ribs, raise concerns about Arizona’s offensive line.
Kliff Kingsbury, the head coach of the Cardinals, told reporters on Monday Following the team’s extended weekend, Murray is “still progressing” in his “day-to-day” recuperation. In preparation for their upcoming road game against the San Francisco 49ers (3-4) this Sunday, they will assess how effectively he can play through his injury during practice on Tuesday and Wednesday.
“He’s played in games where he wasn’t able to really do his entire repertoire, if you will, showcase his talents,” Kingsbury stated. There were occasions last year when he was very hurt. Additionally, he injured his hamstring during that Los Angeles Rams game the year before, so before we put him in the field, we’ll watch to make sure he’s in a good position to play well. That much is certain.
The same is true for Hudson and Max Garcia, their backup center, who was also sidelined by an Achilles injury during the Cardinals-Packers game. Sean Harlow took Garcia’s place against Green Bay.
“We’ll see how things stand tomorrow, into Wednesday, and whether those players can still play on Thursday when we put the pads back on. But that is yet to be determined,” Kingsbury stated in reference to Hudson and Garcia.
