JUST IN: As a key player returns, Roma’s injury problems get better…..

October 21, Reuters Coach Jose Mourinho of AS Roma is optimistic that most of his players will soon be ready to play, as Diego Llorente has returned and several others have started training again.

The runners-up in the Europa League the previous season have won their last two games despite having struggled with form early in the season, sitting in 10th place in the standings with 11 points from their first eight games.

At a press conference on Saturday, Mourinho stated, “(Marash) Kumbulla and (Tammy) Abraham back on the training ground makes me happy, but (Renato) Sanches and (Lorenzo) Pellegrini are still out.”

Llorente, a defender, will be available for Sunday’s home Serie A match against Monza, according to Mourinho.

Mourinho stated, “I hope and hope that next week Sanches will also be able to return to work in the group.” Chris Smalling had also rejoined the group but would not be playing.

Paulo Dybala is still out due to a knee injury he sustained during the 4-1 victory over Cagliari earlier this month, and Mourinho has been mum about Romelu Lukaku’s forward partner.

“I prefer not to reveal who will take the lead tomorrow. Although Paulo Dybala is a valuable player due to his inventiveness and positioning, we have a strong group of forwards at our disposal,” he stated.

“This season, we improved our construction and scored a lot of nice goals.

“We play even better than we did the previous year when we are at our best. For me, what matters is the outcome, the points, and beauty remains that.”
