CLEVELAND — In the second quarter of Sunday’s game against the Browns at FirstEnergy Stadium, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson was forced out due to a sprained right ankle.
Jackson was declared ineligible at halftime, and the Browns managed to win 24–22.
With 14:52 left, Jackson was injured on a 5-yard pass to tight end Mark Andrews, with the Ravens trailing 10-0.
Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, a rookie linebacker for the Browns, struck Jackson. After the throw, Jackson hobbled up and hurriedly sat down on the field.
The NFL’s Most Valuable Player of 2019, A cart was called and Jackson was assisted to the medical tent. With just 14:20 remaining before halftime, Jackson left the field while sitting in the passenger seat and unable to bear any weight on his leg.
After Jackson was replaced by Tyler Huntley, Ravens coach John Harbaugh announced that Jackson had been diagnosed with a sprain.
Jackson ran twice for five yards and completed all four of his passes for 17 yards, including one sack.
Huntley was equally productive, rushing six times for 45 yards and finishing 27 of 38 passes for 270 yards and a touchdown with a 99.7 rating.
Tyler had a lot of grit, according to Harbaugh. “That seemed to be what the entire team did. We still have a chance to win the AFC North championship and, ideally, advance from there because that is who we are. We’ll be fighting for that over the course of the next four weeks.
On November 21, Huntley made his debut in a 16–13 Ravens victory at Chicago, and Harbaugh stated that the team has faith in him.
“[We] are really confident in Tyler.” Indeed,” replied Harbaugh. “The boys have faith in Tyler. He has now demonstrated his abilities in two distinct games. He wouldn’t be on this team if we didn’t have faith in him.”
In terms of passing yards per game (206.5) and rushing yards (69.3), Jackson was ranked sixth in the league going into Week 14.
