Socking news for brisbane broncos

Brisbane Broncos skipper Adam Reynolds may be forced to miss time after incurring an injury in a contentious game against the Storm.

The halfback appeared to have knocked himself out after vying for the ball 16 minutes into the Thursday night football match. It was later discovered that he had lost sensation in his hands and fingers.

The captain’s exit from the field left a significant vacuum in a contest that degenerated into mayhem, with the Broncos falling to a 24-16 loss at AAMI Park.

In a contest that featured four sin-bins and a handful of melees, Melbourne gradually snatched the game away from the Broncos.

Reynolds’ scoring effort occurred after Harry Grant and Herbie Farnworth fought for the ball near the tryline.
According to the Bunker, Grant was ruled to have pushed Farnworth off his run, and the Broncos were awarded a penalty try.

Reynolds was stretchered from the field, his neck braced.

Danika Mason, Nine’s sideline reporter, verified the halfback has regained feeling in his fingers and hands after speaking with Broncos medical professionals.

“When Adam hit the ground, while he did hit his head, his neck also flung back and crushed one of the nerves in his spine so that’s why he couldn’t feel his fingers on the field … which was quite scary for him but good news is he’s regained that feeling,” Mason went on to say.

“He will not be back into the action at all tonight.”

Reynolds was also evaluated for a head injury and was diagnosed with category two concussion symptoms.

Storm prop Nelson Asofa-Solomona seemed to suffer a rib cartilage injury in the round 11 opening, departing the field after 31 minutes. He did, however, finally return.

After Farnworth’s penalty try, the score was 6-6 until winger Jesse Arthars made it 10-6 after 23 minutes.

Farnworth was sent off just before halftime for a professional foul, and Will Warbrick scored a minute later to put the score 10-10 at the break.

Patrick Carrigan was sent to the sin bin in the 55th minute for a hip-drop tackle on Asofa-Solomona, much to the chagrin of Nine’s commentary team.

“I think they totally got that wrong,” Billy Slater stated.

“That’s just momentum, swinging around the tackle.”

The Storm were up 16-10 when Carrigan returned to the field, and Warbrick scored his second in the 74th minute to make it 24-10.

With two and a half minutes remaining, Tom Flegler and Christian Welch got into a scrap before Flegler collided with Aaron Pene, who was at marker, allowing Cory Paix to go in and score, giving Brisbane a chance.

Flegler and Pene were both sent to the bin after the try was awarded, bringing the night’s total to four.

The Storm won by a score of 24-16.
