Kenny Pickett of the Pittsburgh Steelers is certain he’ll play Thursday against the Tennessee Titans, assuring reporters on Tuesday that he’ll “for sure” suit up.
Pickett was injured in the first half of Sunday’s loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars after taking a heavy shot from defensive end Adam Gotsis. After taking over for the second-year quarterback, backup Mitch Trubisky threw two interceptions.
During the 2023 season, Pickett completed 122 of his 200 throws for 1,330 yards, five touchdowns, and four interceptions in seven games.
The Steelers have a 4-3 record and are tied for first place in the AFC North with the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals.

ILB for the Steelers Cole Holcomb is forced to exit the game due to an apparent significant knee injury.
Inside linebacker Cole Holcomb of the Pittsburgh Steelers was taken off the field on a motorized cart after suffering a significant knee injury late in the first quarter of Thursday night’s triumph over the Tennessee Titans at Acrisure Stadium.
Holcomb was chasing Titans receiver DeAndre Hopkins on the third-to-last play of the first quarter, when Hopkins made a 29-yard catch and run. Steelers safety Keanu Neal attempted a tackle and collided with Holcomb’s left knee.
Holcomb gripped his knee as he writhed in agony, and Steelers training professionals quickly treated to him.
The Steelers stated minutes after that Holcomb would not return to the game.
After the game, coach Mike Tomlin stated, “Obviously, Cole Holcomb has a serious knee injury.” “Our thoughts and prayers are with him.”
Tomlin said he would provide an update on Holcomb’s condition during his next weekly news conference on Tuesday.
Holcomb was tied for the Steelers’ season lead in tackles with injured safety Minkah Fitzpatrick at the time he departed the game, with 54. Holcomb has four tackles for loss and 31 solo. He forced two fumbles, intercepted two passes, and recovered one fumble.
After spending his first four seasons with Washington, Holcomb inked a three-year, $18 million contract with the Steelers in March. Despite being one of three veterans signed this year to split the Steelers’ ILB duties, Holcomb had been deployed the most throughout the Steelers’ first seven games. Prior to Thursday, only cornerback Patrick Peterson has played more defensive snaps for the team.
Kwon Alexander and Elandon Roberts were the Steelers’ other inside linebackers who had seen significant action this season. Mark Robinson, a second-year pro, might possibly see more playing time in Holcomb’s absence.
Earlier in the game, Steelers defensive tackle Montravius Adams injured his ankle and did not return.
“To what degree,” Tomlin said of Adams’ injuries, “I don’t know.”
