Bengals Report: Sad News to Bengals

The Cincinnati Bengals earned a big win against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night, but it may have come at a cost.

At one point during the game, Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase fell directly on his back and was slow to get up.

On Monday, Chase was asked about his back and his comments left some doubt that he’ll be able to suit up for Cincinnati’s game against the Houston Texans on Sunday.

“I’m just going to support my teammates, man,” said Chase. “Let those guys do what they got to do. Only thing I can do is get healthy for the team.”

It’s too early know what Chase’s status will be for Sunday’s game against the Texans, though Chase said he’s “good” several times while speaking with reporters.

It sounds like the back injury will be something worth monitoring over the next few days. The Bengals are starting to hit their stride after a slow start to the season, so the last thing they need is for Chase to be sidelined.

It’s worth noting that Chase has been cautious in the past when it comes to injuries. He told reporters earlier this summer that he missed an extra game last season while dealing with a hip injury to make sure he was healthy for the stretch run of the season. That’s something to keep in mind as the week progresses.

Update:

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said on Monday afternoon that Chase is “day to day” and it’s too early know his status for Sunday’s game against the Texans.
