SAD NEWS: Hospitalized with ‘scary’ injury after being…..

Evander Kane was taken to the hospital with a’scary’ injury after being slashed by a skate blade.

During the Oilers’ 3-2 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday night, Edmonton forward Evander Kane was slashed on the left wrist by a skate blade and transported to the hospital with a severe injury.

Kane is in stable condition, according to the Oilers, and will have surgery Tuesday night.

“The news I’ve received so far, and it’s very limited, is that he’s in a good spot,” Edmonton coach Jay Woodcroft said. “He’s getting well taken care of.”

During the second period, Kane collided with Lightning defenseman Philippe Myers just inside the Edmonton defensive zone and was sliced by Tampa Bay forward Pat Maroon’s skate blade.

“You cringe when you see that,” said Lightning head coach Jon Cooper. “It was difficult to see. Hopefully, he’ll be fine because, you know, in hockey, you compete against each other. We’re in a battle, but we’re still a family.”

Kane raced to the bench before heading to the locker room, grabbing the lacerated region with his right hand.
“It’s certainly scary,” admitted Oilers star Connor McDavid. “I believe you could feel the energy in the entire rink being sucked out.” We’re considering him. We’ve heard he’s doing well, but this is certainly preliminary.”
