David Montgomery and Jared Goff are competing for weekly awards. Go vote right now and cheer for the Detroit Lions!
Following their impressive performances against the Los Angeles Chargers, running back David Montgomery and quarterback Jared Goff of the Detroit Lions are both in the running for FedEx’s weekly awards. Montgomery is one of three nominees for Ground Player of the Week, while Goff is up for Air Player of the Week.
Goff will probably have a harder time taking home the weekly prize than the other player. With a passer rating of 122.4 and 333 yards with two touchdowns, the Lions quarterback had an amazing day. He completed 69.7% of his passes. He faces quarterbacks Geno Smith of the Seahawks and Dak Prescott of the Cowboys, though. These are their respective statlines stacked against one another.
However, Montgomery has a good chance of winning this week’s Ground Player of the
Week awards. Thanks to this spectacular 75-yard touchdown run, he not only finished with the second-most rushing yards of the week, but he did so on just 12 carries.
Running backs Jaylen Warren of the Steelers and Devin Singletary of the Texans oppose Montgomery. Here is a comparison of their Week 10 stats:
Naturally, Montgomery was only a single component of the Lions’ offensive line. Jahmyr Gibbs, a rookie running back, was the only player in Week 10 with two rushing touchdowns. He carried the ball 14 times for 77 yards and two touchdowns against the Chargers.
