Jacksonville Jaguars star receiver Zay Jones was arrested on domestic battery charges. Jones was arrested by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and booked into the Duval County Jail at 6:03 Eastern time. The charge was for domestic battery causing bodily harm, which is a first-degree misdemeanor. This is not the first receiver to be taken into custody this season either as Michael Thomas and Chris Olave from the New Orleans Saints have been arrested as well.

According to jail records, Jones’ first court appearance will be on Tuesday at nine in the morning. The receiver is in his second season with the Jaguars after he signed a three-year deal worth $14 million guaranteed back in 2022. In his first season with the team, he went for 823 receiving yards and five touchdowns.
A first-degree misdemeanor in the state of Florida is punishable by up to 180 days in jail and up to a $1,000 fine. His punishment can also include court costs, restitution, probation, treatment, and community service. Full details are still not known and will be updated while this case gets looked at more by investigators and reporters.
Jones was drafted in 2017 by the Buffalo Bills and went to the Las Vegas Raiders before landing in Jacksonville. He has amounted to 2,785 receiving yards and 59 touchdowns in his career with the three teams.
