Stars from the world of sport and showbiz have paid tribute to Ciaran Keating – the older brother of Boyzone’s Ronan who tragically died at the weekend.

Co Mayo-based Ciaran lost his life on Saturday afternoon in a two-car collision.

It is believed he was travelling to a match with his wife Ann Marie to see their son Ruairi play for Cork City against Sligo Rovers, the Irish Mirror reports.

Boyzone star Keith Duffy led the tributes on social media for Ciaran, aged in his 50s, who was killed in the two-vehicle accident in Swinford.

Keith posted a photo of a candle on his Instagram account and wrote: “I can’t comprehend the loss and devastation of my brother (Ronan Keating) and all the Keating family.

“All my family are praying and thinking of our Keating family right now.

“Ciaran, from the early days you toured with us you were a great guide on our journey in the early days. You helped and supported us young innocent kids.”

He added: “Take your place in heaven buddy, with your Mam Marie”.

Footballer Robbie Keane replied to the heartfelt post with a prayer emoji, while Eastenders actor Michael Greco wrote: “Awful news.”

Keith’s pal, and TV star, Muireann O’ Connell also wrote: “So sorry for your loss, Keith,” while snooker legend Ken Doherty posted: “Very sad news.”

The Marie Keating Foundation also issued an emotional tribute.

The foundation which was set up by Ronan’s sister, Linda, after the death of their beloved mother, Marie from breast cancer in 1998 at the age of 51, wrote: “The whole team and Board of the Marie Keating Foundation are devastated to learn of the tragic death of Ciaran Keating.

“Together with his family, Ciaran established the Foundation following the death of his mother Marie to breast cancer 25 years ago.

“Ciaran was such a great supporter of our work and often acted as relief driver of our Mobile Information Unit in the West when time allowed.

“He joined us recently to celebrate 25 years of the Foundation at our annual celebrity golf classic in the K-Club.
