Cincinnati in serious trouble to qualify for Playoffs

The Bengals’ season has suffered a brutal blow following Coach Zac Taylor‘s announcement that Cincinnati‘s superstar quarterback, Joe Burrow, is out for the rest of the season due to a ligament injury in his right wrist.

Burrow, who exited the game with a wrist injury during Thursday Night Football, where his team lost to the Baltimore Ravens, underwent various studies this morning, confirming the ligament injury and signaling the end of the season for him.

The news comes at a very inconvenient time for the Bengals. After winning four consecutive games, they now have two consecutive losses, bringing their record to 5-5 and seriously jeopardizing their playoff chances. This is especially challenging as they compete in the AFC North division, where all teams have a winning record.

A consequence of an old injury?

On social media, some fans brought back an old tweet that Burrow posted in 2017, before becoming a college champion and entering the NFL, where he mentioned recovering from a hand fracture. Now, it seems that this old injury is catching up with him years later.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport was the first to break the news through his X account: “#Bengals QB Joe Burrow is out for the year with a torn ligament, per coach Zac Taylor. He had his MRI this morning. Jake Browning, who finished last night, is his backup.”

Burrow suffered the injury during the first half of the Thursday loss against the Ravens. Unable to grip the ball properly on the sidelines, he went to the locker room and was ruled out. After the game, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor suggested that the injury was a wrist sprain, although further tests would reveal the extent of the damage.

Following the MRI results on Friday, the outlook changed, and the Bengals will move forward with Jake Browning as the quarterback.

The Bengals will play again on November 26 at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
