bad news for Rotherham United

Rotherham United have received positive news concerning the hamstring injury sustained by flying winger Chiedozie Ogbene in the South Yorkshire derby against Sheffield Wednesday.

Ogbene, who had provided the Millers with a threat down the right flank in the early exchanges, was forced off after 25 minutes having picked up the muscle injury.

Following scans and further investigation from the club’s medical team on Monday, we are pleased to confirm that the 24-year-old’s injury is not as bad as first feared and should not rule him out of first team action for the foreseeable future.

With club staff continuing to monitor the injury and the rehab that will follow, Head of Medical Stephen Gilpin remained cautious in his prognosis but couldn’t help but be positive on the news concerning the winger.

“We don’t want to make promises on when Chieo will be back out on the pitch, but having had a proper look at the injury today we’re as pleased as we can be with it,” he told www.themillers.co.uk.

“When an explosive player like Chieo goes down clutching a hamstring it is always a worrying sign, but we are hopeful that he won’t be sidelined for too long with this one.

“He is obviously going to have a bit of work to do to rehabilitate the muscle, but we see it as being very manageable and we have fed back to the Gaffer that he shouldn’t be unavailable for any considerable period of time.”
