Alabama news: This signing was indeed a good one

In college football, the revolving door is the new normal.

The annual personnel carousel roars to life as the 2022 college football season comes to an end. Alabama loses a few familiar faces, but they simply reload. The following is a breakdown of the current roster. We will be adding updates throughout the year as we approach Spring practice.

DEPARTURE IN SENIOR BOWL
Players who have already declared their attendance at the Senior Bowl (Feb. 4) have played at least four years of college football. They would need an NCAA waiver, a medical redshirt, or their college coach to agree to bring them back for a bonus super-senior season to continue their college career. By taking part in this bowl, these young men have effectively ended their college playing careers. We did see PK Will Reichard leave the game and sign up for another year at the Capstone, but no other players are expected to do so.

The following Alabama players are still planning to play in the Senior Bowl.

PENDING 4TH YEAR PLAYER NOT EXPECTED TO RETURN OL Darrian Dalcourt has played four full seasons, but he still has a bonus super senior season ahead of him. It would be surprising if Nick Saban used one of his 85 available scholarships on a part-time starter/back-up offensive lineman. But who could have predicted the return of Kendall Randolph or Chris Owens?
POTENTIAL SUPER SENIOR WR Tyler Harrell has four full seasons (five games this season) under his belt, plus a redshirt year at Louisville. He’d be better off playing another season of college ball somewhere. The real question is whether the Alabama coaching staff believes he is healed enough to be a significant contributor next season.

QUESTION FOR MARK DL Justin Eboigbe appeared in four games in 2022 before suffering a neck injury and missing the rest of the season. This past season could be considered a redshirt year because he did not take one. Depending on how he heals, he should be able to return for a fifth year as well as a super senior year if necessary. Another option is to gamble on the NFL Draft this spring. The final option is to retire from football. The extent of his injury is unknown to the public, and his camp has been unusually quiet.
TRANSFERS THAT MAY OCCUR
The transfer portal window closes in less than two weeks, on January 18, implying that the time for decisions is quickly approaching. All of these are listed below.
