Magic Johnson, a Washington Commanders minority owner, was blunt about how the Dallas Cowboys were able to destroy his team.
The Washington Commanders dropped to 4-8 on the 2023-24 NFL season with a frustrating blowout road loss to their NFC East Divisional rivals, the Dallas Cowboys, on Thursday afternoon. Although quarterback Sam Howell and the Commanders were able to keep things interesting for the first thirty minutes, Dallas eventually pulled away in the fourth quarter en route to a 45-10 victory, improving their record to 8-3.
Magic Johnson, a former Los Angeles Lakers player and current Commanders minority owner, was not pleased with the game’s outcome. Following the game, Johnson took to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, to provide a succinct assessment of what occurred on the AT&T Stadium field on Thanksgiving morning.
“The Dallas Cowboys beat my Commanders 45-10,” Johnson wrote. “Dallas was a better football team tonight, plain and simple.”
While most reasonable pundits did not expect the Commanders to make a lot of noise in a crowded NFC playoff picture this season, it’s safe to assume that their fans were hoping for a better record than 4-8 this far into the season. On Thursday, quarterback Sam Howell, who led the league in passing yards entering the game, threw for 300 yards but completed only 28 of 44 passes, throwing no touchdowns and one interception.
The Commanders’ next opponent is another elite opponent, the Miami Dolphins, who will visit Landover on December 3.
