What a devastated news for Ohio State cornerback

WEST LAFAYETTE, Indiana — The stellar third season of an Ohio State football cornerback was cut short Saturday at Purdue.

Denzel Burke was forced to leave the game in the third quarter after being involved in a tackle that ended a big Boilermaker gain. He went to the sideline medical tent first, then to the locker room.
Jermaine Mathews, a freshman, entered the game to take his place. Jordan Hancock has also started to play more outside cornerback. Burke had not returned to the bench after two series.

Burke had three tackles and a pass breakup on Saturday. He entered the game with seven pass breakups, the most on the team, one interception, and one forced fumble. His vocal and physical leadership have helped to set the tone for an improved secondary.
