Pittsburgh Steelers are pleased to announce…..

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced a surprise inactive for their Week 12 game with the Bengals.

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers make six players inactive for their Week 12 matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals, including a player not many saw coming.

The Steelers announced quarterback Mason Rudolph, safety Minkah Fitzpatrick (hamstring), defensive tackle Montravius Adams (ankle), offensive tackle Dylan Cook, running back Anthony McFarland and linebacker Blake Martinez will not dress against Cincinnati.

McFarland is a surprise inactive for the Steelers. After returning from Injured Reserve, the running back reclaimed his role as the team’s kick returner. However, Pittsburgh has decided to make him inactive for Week 12, and instead, will give Godwin Igwebuike a helmet for the matchup. He’s expected to take on kick return duties instead of McFarland.

Fitzpatrick misses his fourth game due to a hamstring injury. While head coach Mike Tomlin stressed that the All-Pro safety was “fighting” to return to the field, he was unable to suit up for practice throughout the week.

Adams will miss his third game due to an ankle injury, but the Steelers did get positive news for their defensive tackle. Despite being ruled out, Adams was limited in practice this week, marking his first return since the injury occurred.

Rudolph will dress as the team’s third quarterback, but is not allowed to enter the game unless Kenny Pickett and Mitch Trubisky are unable to play.

Martinez signed with the team off of the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad this week. With only a few days of practice under his belt, the veteran linebacker will wait at least another week before making his Steelers debut.

In his place, Pittsburgh elevated Tariq Carpenter from the practice squad. Carpenter has played the last two games, contributing on special teams.
