Beating Ohio State for the third year in a row, which will likely result in a third straight Big Ten title, is huge for all things Michigan. It’s huge for Jim Harbaugh, it’s huge for the seniors and the returning players and it’s also huge on the recruiting trail. Michigan hosted more than 100 prospects on Saturday including a few big timers and some prospects committed elsewhere. No matter where a recruit is committed, Saturday’s game would make them think hard about picking the Wolverines. That seems to be the case with Burley (Idaho) Burley Senior wide receiver Gatlin Bair. The nation’s fastest wide receiver committed to the hometown Broncos of Boise State back in August, but Michigan was a serious contender at the time. Now, Boise State is without a head coach after the firing of Andy Avalos, which has given Bair some pause.
With a little bit of uncertainty rattling around his head, Bair decided to check out Ann Arbor this weekend, which obviously developed nicely for the Wolverines. Granted, Michigan wide receivers don’t put up huge numbers, Roman Wilson has been great all year and fellow Idahoan Colston Loveland had a very nice game on Saturday. Bair was at least paying attention to Loveland, as evidenced by him posting Michigan’s sophomore tight end on his Instagram story. Moving forward, Bair has some things to think about. He could stay committed to Boise State or potentially flip to Michigan or Oregon, one of his other top schools. Bair is an interesting prospect because of his elite speed and also his now uncertain recruitment, but also because he won’t be on a college campus until 2026 due to his commitment to a two-year mission. Regardless, his speed is game-changing, which is why so many programs wanted and still want him.
