What a signing: Michigan makes a big move for Top247

TMI has the latest on one of the Wolverines’ targets

Kissimmee (Fla.) Osceola 2025 four-star linebacker Elijah Melendez made his first ever trip to Michigan and left thoroughly impressed from start to finish.

“It went really amazing,” Melendez told The Michigan Insider. “My favorite part that really showed me who Michigan was was when the player got injured, they all had his back and the whole fan base showed their support, then Michigan went out and scored the first play back. That moment of the game to me really showed me the love and support from Michigan. Never seen that before, but I loved it! The visit went really well. I got there at 7 am for a campus tour and photo shoot and all that type of stuff and really loved the school.”

Big Ten football expectations vs. reality: Ohio State underachieves; Iowa surprises in regular season

Not every team delivered on its preseason goals.2025 Florida LB Elijah Melendez talks visit: 'Relationship is really good' - VolReport

The college football regular season is complete, and in the Big Ten, Michigan and Iowa reigned supreme over their respective divisions over the course of 13 weeks. The two programs meet this weekend with a conference championship on the line. Reaching the title contest was a preseason goal — and perhaps even an expectation — for the Wolverines, while winning the league at times appeared to be a stretch for the Hawkeyes throughout the campaign.

Coming up short of Big Ten supremacy is nothing shy of a disappointment for teams such as Ohio State and Penn State. Failing to reach bowl eligibility was a letdown for Nebraska, Illinois and Michigan State. But for others, like upstart Northwestern, the 2023 regular season was a resounding success.

Not every team’s expectations can become a reality, and that is particularly true in the Big Ten, where numerous squads vie for the conference title and College Football Playoff berths each year.
