The Denver Nuggets have been without star guard Jamal Murray for their last 10 games. Over that span they’ve won just half of the time, showing that they truly miss having the Canadian in their lineup.
Well, on Monday morning, the Nuggets received some excellent news from The Athletic’s Shams Charania, who reported that Murray’s status has moved to day-to-day. Charania’s report indicates that a return for Denver’s No. 27 could be right around the corner.
However, Charania did explain that Murray will remain out for Monday’s meeting with the LA Clippers.
“I’ve been told that Jamal Murray will not return tonight against the Clippers,” Charania revealed on FanDuel TV. “But, after tonight, it’s going to be a day-by-day process in the coming days. He could return this week. He could return as soon as Wednesday at home against the (Houston) Rockets, or on the road Friday against the (Phoenix) Suns. They’re going to just see how he feels literally day by day.”

Murray first went down with a strained right hamstring back on Nov. 4 when the Nuggets took down the Chicago Bulls.
Again, they’ve been wildly inconsistent in the games since, going 5-5 in Murray’s absence. A large reason for that has been the unreliable bench. Denver has struggled to find any players who have been able to step up and take advantage of the opportunity that’s been created with the injury.
When Murray first went down, that was something that Nikola Jokic had been confident that his team would be able to figure out.
“If we miss a guy, we have guys that can step in and get the job done,” Jokic said (h/t Tony Jones). “And our system is good because everyone that we put on the court can play. Jamal is so important to us. He was a huge part in us winning a championship. He is someone who can go and get 30 points. We have guys who can step up. Maybe they won’t get 30, but they can fill spots in other ways.”
Reggie Jackson has somewhat done that, averaging 13.7 points, 4.4 assists, and 3.0 rebounds per game while shooting 48.2% from the field and 40.0% from beyond the arc. However, Denver has needed more from the likes of Peyton Watson and Julian Strawther over the past few weeks, and just hasn’t gotten it
