An overnight explosion rocked the North Carolina home of Caleb Farley, a cornerback for the Tennessee Titans. The incident tragically claimed the life of Farley’s father, Robert M. Farley, and left another individual injured. The explosion, which occurred in Moorseville, approximately 30 miles north of Charlotte, is believed to have been caused by a gas leak. Farley himself was not present at the time of the explosion, as confirmed by a Titans spokesperson.
Miraculous Survival
First responders arrived swiftly at the scene, finding Christian Rogers, a friend of the Farley family, emerging from the debris. Despite the destruction, Rogers miraculously survived the blast and is currently recovering from his injuries. Kent Greene, director of fire services and emergency management for Iredell County, expressed his amazement at Rogers’ survival.

While the explosion’s exact cause is still under investigation, it is suspected that accumulated gas found an ignition source, leading to the devastating blast. The explosion, deemed accidental by local authorities, originated in a bedroom within the large property near Lake Norman.

Upon learning of Caleb Farley’s loss, the Tennessee Titans offered their support and condolences to their teammate. Titans coach Mike Vrabel informed the team during practice, and the players gathered in a moment of prayer. The team is rallying behind Farley during this difficult time.
Caleb Farley, a former high school quarterback from Maiden, North Carolina, attended Virginia Tech before being drafted as a cornerback by the Titans in 2021. He notably opted out of the 2020 college football season due to the pandemic, making him one of the first high-profile players to do so.
