Tennessee’s Banks fund a defensive targets in North Carolina

Tennessee defensive coordinator Tim Banks traveled to North Carolina on Friday to check on a few defensive targets in the 2025 and 2026 classes

Tennessee defensive coordinator Tim Banks headed to North Carolina on Friday to begin the contact period leading up to Early Signing Day. His first stops allowed him to check on a few defensive targets in the 2025 and 2026 classes.

Banks visited Panther Creek High School in Cary, North Carolina, the alma mater of Class of 2025 defensive lineman Trajen Odom, who received a scholarship offer from Tennessee on Nov. 10. Banks also visited Grimsley High School in Greensboro, N.C., where four-star Class of 2025 edge rusher Bryce Davis is a standout. Davis is a top-100 recruit who received an offer from Tennessee in January and attended the Orange and White Game in April.

A few of Tennessee’s assistant coaches hit the road Friday to visit one of the Vols’ top remaining targets in the 2024 class. Offensive line coach Glen Elarbee joined first-year tight ends coach Alec Abeln and Joey Halzle, Tennessee’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, in traveling to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., the home of five-star Class of 2024 offensive tackle Jordan Seaton.

The visit also allowed Abeln and Halzle to spend time with four-star Tennessee tight end commitment Jonathan Echols. A Georgia native, Echols has been committed to the Vols since July 2022, when he became their first commitment for the 2024 class.
