“This is an amazing chance for our club to play host to one of the strongest teams in the NRL, and it will be a unique experience for both rugby league fans and Wigan supporters.” We’re putting on a show, so expectations are high.”

Wigan secured their eighth Super League title with a hard-fought 10-2 victory over Catalans Dragons in October’s Grand Final at Old Trafford, lifting the trophy for the first time since 2018.

Two weeks before the Warriors’ triumph, Penrith rallied to defeat the Brisbane Broncos 26–24, extending their reign as NRL kings to a third season.

Despite being the British and Australian champions, the Panthers have never won the World Club Challenge. They will try to rectify that against Manly Sea Eagles, the team that won the inaugural match between the two teams in 1987.

Rugby League Commercial managing director Rhodri Jones stated, “The Betfred World Club Challenge is a mouthwatering fixture to relish in the opening weeks of our 2024 season, as two of the world’s great Rugby League clubs meet in Wigan.

“”Both teams deserve full recognition for the collegial manner in which negotiations to finalize the schedule were conducted.
