Sad news for Philadelphia Phillies

Philadelphia Phillies Provide Injury Update on Superstar Bryce Harper

After getting hit by a pitch on Saturday, the Phillies have provided an update on superstar Bryce Harper.

The Philadelphia Phillies lost to the Miami Marlins on Saturday, 5-3, but after the game, the hope from fans was that they didn’t lose something greater: Bryce Harper.

The superstar left the game early after being hit by a pitch but it appears the team has avoided serious consequences.

The following update comes from the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal:

X-rays on Harper’s right elbow returned negative, and he is only dealing with soreness after exiting Saturday’s game against the Marlins, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

ANALYSIS
Harper was hit by a pitch and was ultimately pulled from the game shortly after. The issue doesn’t appear to be serious, though the team could opt to hold him out Sunday to get him an extra day of rest heading into the All-Star break.

Seeing Harper get hit on that elbow was certainly worrisome, considering that’s the elbow that Harper had Tommy John surgery on this offseason, so this report is best-case scenario stuff.

Since being activated off the injured list in May, Harper is hitting .290 with three homers, 23 RBI and five stolen bases.

Lifetime, he’s one of the best players of this generation, smacking 288 career homers and driving in 840. He’s also a lifetime .280 hitter.

After the loss, the Phillies are 48-40 on the season. They are in third place in the National League East and hold the No. 3 spot in the National League wild card picture. Miami holds the top spot at 52-39.
