sad news for brisbane broncos coach….

Kevvie’s new contract is ‘loaded with clauses,’ as the Broncos criticise his ‘naive’ contract stunt.

With the arrival of new neighbours the Dolphins, the Brisbane Broncos will be under even more pressure to perform this season, putting even more pressure on Kevin Walters to succeed.

While the club is reportedly ready to show their faith in the rugby league legend with a new contract, the nature of his extension has been called into question and dubbed a “native” attempt to “silence the noise.”

According to the Courier Mail, Walters is set to sign a lucrative two-year extension. While the contract is said to include bonuses worth up to $1 million per season, there are also reported performance clauses that allow the Broncos to fire him and avoid a large payout figure.

“… Already we’ve seen the impact of that .. we lost two players but we love the competitiveness that will bring to us, the edge that it will bring to the Broncos and likewise the edge that it will bring to the NRL.”

When asked about his own prospects,

“We have the players on a path to success, and we demonstrated at various points last year that we are a very good side on our day.” My job is to ensure that the playing group is consistent.

“We need to be a team.”
