Baugh envisions himself as a Florida Gator.
Billy Napier and the Florida Gators want to run the football on offence, and after losing running back Trevor Etienne to the transfer portal earlier this week, the staff is looking to add a second back to the recruiting class.
The Gators hosted Arkansas running back commit Jadan Baugh (6-1, 215, Decatur, GA. Columbia) on campus this weekend, and he enjoyed his time with the staff.
“This weekend was fun for me and my family,” Baugh said of his Florida trip. “We had the opportunity to speak with Coach [Billy] Napier, Coach [Jabbar] Juluke, and the rest of the staff.” I had a great time the entire weekend, and I definitely see myself making a big impact and developing a lot in Florida.”
Baugh was hosted by a Gators running back, who explained how Juluke coaches his position.
“Treyaun Webb,” he said, referring to his player host. “The entire time he was telling me how special it is here and how Coach Juluke treats you like a son.” “You can definitely come here and make a big impact,” he said.
Both Napier and Juluke explained to Baugh how he would be used offensively and why the Gators’ running backs are so successful.
“They talked to me about it a lot, but he also said that I’m very versatile,” Baugh said when asked if the coaching staff had discussed the need for him in the running game. “He said I can play both receiver and running back, and that they use their running backs in the passing game as well as running the ball a lot.” He said all weekend that the numbers don’t lie and that they have two running backs in the top ten in the league in rushing.”
Juluke spent more time with Baugh, explaining the significance of his decision and why he is wanted in Gainesville.
“Make the right decision for me,” he said in response to Juluke’s message. “He said that while not every job is a good fit for everyone, they want me and believe I can make a difference here.” He said, “Make the best decision for me.”
Baugh had previously visited Gainesville, but this weekend demonstrated to the running back that he could fit into the programme at Florida and be at ease in Gainesville.
“Florida has shown me that it’s a home for me, and I’m very wanted here,” Baugh said of Florida. “I was always told that you should go where you are wanted. I really like Florida, and it helped them a lot. During my visit to Florida, I saw everything I needed to see.
Baugh will travel to another SEC school next, as the Arkansas commit is now in a three-team race.
“Alabama, I’m going there next week,” he said of the other schools besides Florida and Arkansas still in the running for him. “I’m looking for a family environment and where is convenient for my family so they can make it to my games.”
Baugh says his commitment to the Hogs will be soft after this weekend, and that the coming week will be crucial for him.
“I’m going to say something like 50 percent,” Baugh said of his commitment to Arkansas. “Next week is going to determine everything.”
