Mike Tomlin has become the target of irate Steelers fans by refusing to change.
The tide has turned against Mike Tomlin, the Steelers’ once-unassailable coach who never posted a losing season in Pittsburgh.
In wake of a 30-6 drubbing by the Texans, angry callers across the 412-area code have been flooding sports talk shows with calls for Tomlin’s head.
The game has passed him by, some are saying. And after promising changes following the pathetic showing by Pittsburgh in the Lone Star State, Tomlin retained his oblivious offensive coordinator, Matt Canada.
This is treason in Steelers Nation, which has called for Canada’s dismissal. And it’s Tomlin’s obstinate adherence to the status quo that has engulfed him in an all-out Steelers Nation revolt. And he has become the new target.
In this revolutionary edition of your Steelers Update Podcast, we have much more on all the frenzied fallout from the disastrous loss to the Texans and Tomlin being at a loss for answers at his press conference, as well as a preview of Sunday’s big home game against the Ravens.

Truth be told, the Steelers’ problems go far beyond their besieged coordinator. Second-year quarterback Kenny Pickett, once anointed as Pittsburgh’s prodigal son, has looked pathetic in the pocket. Most of the sacks he’s suffered are being blamed on Pickett’s penchant for rolling out right into the pass rush pressure – not on his still-overmatched offensive line.
