Burnley Football Club takes action to provide a safer environment for fans at Turf Moor.

The Burnley Football Club has acknowledged that their levels of protection during the Everton match were “well below” expectations and has stated that measures are being made to make Turf Moor a safer venue for spectators.

After Everton supporters were able to enter the home end during Saturday’s match, the club opened an investigation at the beginning of the week.

After seeing the video on social media, a number of Burnley supporters informed the team about the problem.

Children were observed to be clearly distressed by the altercation by those seated nearby, and the stewarding’s lack of response was also criticized.

When Burnley first addressed the matter on Monday, they disclosed that an internal investigation was in progress.

The club released a new statement this evening stating that measures had been made to make sure such situations don’t happen again.

“It was not acceptable what transpired in the stands during last weekend’s match because some away fans were in certain areas of the home end,” the Clarets stated.

“We did not provide supporters the amount of protection you deserved or what we thought you deserved.

We want to ensure that situations similar to this do not occur again, therefore we conducted an internal investigation during which some of the core concerns were evaluated, addressed, and recognized by those responsible.

In the same way that we wouldn’t want you to be stopped at other stadiums you might visit in the future, we, along with many other teams, don’t want to stop visiting supporters from joining us.

“It’s obvious that more regulations must be put in place for the procedure around visiting fans on matchdays, and we will implement these measures for everyone’s safety before our next home game.

The most valuable component of our football team is its followers, and we are sorry if we let you down.

“The actions we anticipate taking place will solidify our dedication to transforming Turf Moor into a more secure and hospitable place for everybody.”

“Thank you for your continued support.”
