Good News for Brisbane Broncos

In anticipation of their Isuzu UTE A-League Round 9 matchup against Central Coast Mariners on Thursday at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane Roar captain Tom Aldred says his team wants to build on their recent excellent home performance.

Since moving back to Suncorp Stadium at the start of the 2023–24 season, Roar has made the stadium a fortress, winning two games and drawing one thus far.

“Coming back here was very important because it’s our home, Brisbane, and what the fans know as Brisbane Roar’s home,” Aldred remarked.

It was up to us to provide performances, and based on our play and our outcomes thus far, I think we’ve begun to establish ourselves as a formidable force.

“We have to continue putting in a lot of effort, concentrate on getting better every week, and win games in order to let teams know that this is a difficult place to be.”

This season, Roar and the Mariners have already faced off, with Roar winning 2-1 at Industree Group Stadium last month thanks to goals in the first half from Florin Berenguer and Thomas Waddingham.

Brisbane has preserved four clean sheets in their past five games and is unbeaten in their last nine A-League encounters with the Mariners (W7, D2). At Suncorp Stadium, the Mariners’ previous three-point victory came in April 2014.

Prior to their match against Central Coast on Thursday, Aldred stated that his team was just concerned with their own procedures.

“The last time we played them, I thought they were a good team. They’ve been playing well, and they have some threats on their team, but we worry about ourselves with every game,” Aldred remarked.

We’ve been really excellent this year at analyzing ourselves and how we can influence the opponent, in my opinion. We know they have a strong point, but we also have ours, so we’ll see how we can influence them.
