The Rushcliffe Borough Council recently received documentation from the club detailing their plans to build two new hospitality spaces to the stadium.
While the City Ground is undergoing a major renovation, Nottingham Forest intends to add two additional features. The Premier League team has filed plans to Rushcliffe Borough Council to rearrange the stadium’s layout, adding two new hospitality spaces at the Trent End’s corners built of repurposed shipping containers.
Twenty private hospitality pods would be positioned in the present spaces between the stand, which faces the River Trent, and the Brian Clough and Peter Taylor stands. With 18 fans per suggested hospitality pod, the total additional capacity would be 360.
According to the planning documents, each pod would have a separate hospitality room with a kitchenette and “unobstructed views” of the pitch. In the past, Tom Cartledge, the club’s chairman, stated that the organization would consider using container stands to boost attendance in the interim while the multi-million pound renovation project at City Ground was underway.
Mr. Cartledge had previously stated: “There will be a number of different announcements between now and Christmas.” It’s reasonable to state, in my opinion, that one of them is to examine how containers are used in order to find locations or areas of the property where we might be able to temporarily boost attendance.
Demolition and reconstruction of the Peter Taylor stand is a key component of the City Ground’s long-term strategy to expand its capacity. Rushcliffe Borough Council approved the project in the summer of 2022, but there are still a few requirements that need to be satisfied before construction can begin, such as the River Trent’s relocation and removal of boathouses.
