A Big Loss For The Michigan Wolverines

The Michigan Wolverines are hard at work getting ready for their College Football Playoff encounter with Alabama. But they also have to deal with the transfer portal, just like any other college football team does at the moment.Another running back has registered on the site following the loss of CJ Stokes a few weeks prior. Leon Franklin, a walk-on running back, declared he was going to the transfer site.

Michigan Wolverines Lose RB Leon Franklin To The Transfer Portal

Franklin has been a part of the program since 2021, but his career statistics are not very impressive. Franklin had just 75 rushing yards in 29 games over the course of three years. This has more to do with being behind Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards than it does with Franklin’s play. After learning that two well-known running backs will be joining in the 2024 class, Franklin made the decision to look for playing time elsewhere. For many walk-ons, it is an unfortunate reality as they attempt to make an impression in their little playing time.

Michigan 2024 Outlook

For the Wolverines, anything after this season is quite uncertain. There are two major issues that need to be resolved. The NCAA’s probe into the sign-stealing incident is the first. The 2024 season will be significantly impacted by any punishment the NCAA decides to impose. What will happen to Jim Harbaugh is the other. NFL teams are already contacting to see out how interested they are, and the program will look drastically different if Harbaugh left. Michigan wants to maintain its winning streak in the Big Ten by avoiding a severe penalty and keeping Harbaugh.
