Ian Evatt Pleased with the late storm

CAMERON Manager Ian Evatt gave Jerome a pat on the back for his efforts in helping Wanderers weather a late storm against Leyton Orient.

With ten minutes left in regular time on Saturday, the match was very much in the balance when the seasoned striker stepped off the bench.

Wanderers were having trouble adjusting to their opponents’ second-half substitutions, but Evatt believed the striker’s introduction—along with Victor Adeboyejo’s—helped tip the odds in his team’s favor.

After the final whistle, he observed, “We saw the value of Cameron Jerome today—even though it was just for 10-15 minutes—just his experience, the way he got us up the pitch and made the ball stick.”

“We had to be direct at times, but we were making mistakes. They were playing man-to-man, so we were kicking long passes to their large center backs, and the gaps in our lines were simply too great.” The foundation could not be built. You lose the first header and the second ball when that occurs.

“We had to make adjustments and modifications. It’s not how we do things. However, despite the difficulties and strain, we were able to reach the finish line.

Evatt was pleased to get a victory while knowing that Wanderers’ second-half performance needed a lot of work after back-to-back losses to Portsmouth and Bristol Rovers.

“I was happy with what we accomplished in the first half, but it was difficult to miss Rico against Leyton Orient because I knew how many balls we would have to defend aerially. I wasn’t in the second half, he continued.

“It would have been simple to give in at 3-2, and we could have done so in previous years and tied the game.” However, this year we managed to prevail.

“After two disappointing outcomes, we know we can play better, but we need to get back to winning ways. I think that’s all that has to be the main focus.
