A big question the Lions must answer

On Saturday night, the Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys will square off at AT&T Stadium. Although both clubs have already guaranteed a spot in the playoffs, Dallas is now just one game ahead of the struggling Philadelphia Eagles (-12).and yet possess the opportunity to win the NFC East. The Eagles, 49ers, and Lions are now sitting at 11-4 and have a shot at the top NFC spot.

The Cowboys are now favorites over the Lions in this game, per DraftKings Sportsbook. Register at Tallysight to place your own bets; we have been utilizing it to submit our weekly picks.

With a perfect 7-0 record at home, the Cowboys have performed significantly better than their 3-5 record away from home. Normally, I would lean toward choosing the Cowboys because the game is being played in Dallas; however, the Lions, who have a 6-2 record away from Detroit, have proven to be a strong road team as well.

Both teams are doing well this season, thus this game is close, but I have more faith in the Lions and Jared Goff. After suffering back-to-back defeats to the Buffalo Bills(-14) and failing to defeat a club with a winning record during the first 12 weeks of the season, I believe that Detroit has more quality victories than Dallas.

This is not meant to minimize the Cowboys’ 10-5 record; rather, I simply believe that the Lions are a physically strong, smash-mouth club, and Dallas has historically suffered in situations like to this (witness the 49ers’ 42-10 thrashing, for instance). Detroit has some more momentum going into Saturday night because they are also coming in on a two-game winning run.

I am selecting Detroit to win this game and cover the spread because the Cowboys simply don’t seem like the same club contending for a title. Given that the offenses of these two teams are so strong, I’m also picking to win this one.
