Tottenham player wow’s the whole club

Inside Tottenham Hotspur, Rodrigo Bentancur’s early comeback from an ankle injury has “shocked” many.

Journalist Alasdair Gold of Football.London, who has been discussing Rodrigo Bentancur’s incredible comeback, says as much.

As Tottenham defeated Bournemouth 3-1 on Sunday, Bentancur made his way back into the starting lineup.

After taking a hard hit from Matty Cash in November, the 26-year-old injured his ankle ligaments, causing him to miss time until February.

Bentancur suffered the injury while making his first start for the team in nine months, which at the time was a major setback.

After sustaining an ACL injury in February, the Uruguayan international hasn’t had the best luck with his fitness over the past 12 months.

After playing for 60 minutes in Sunday’s victory over Bournemouth before Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg took his place, he received praise from Ange Postecoglou.

It appears that even the Tottenham staff was taken aback by his speedy recuperation from injury.

Bentancur’s recovery astounded the Tottenham staff.

In his most recent YouTube video, Gold discussed the reactions of Tottenham supporters to Bentancur’s unexpected comeback.

The journalist said, “He trained with the first team for the entire last week. I’ve talked to a lot of people at the club, and to be honest, people are shocked.”

They were caught off guard as well. Nobody was anticipating his return any time soon; they were probably waiting a month or so.

The timing of Bentancur’s return couldn’t be more ideal for Spurs as Postecoglou tries to steer his team through a challenging stretch.

Tottenham has triumphed in four of their previous five league games, despite Postecoglou’s team suffering greatly from injuries and suspensions.

Following his dismissal during last month’s 2-0 victory at Nottingham Forest, Yves Bissouma has missed the last two games. This month, the Mali midfielder and Senegalese star Pape Matar Sarr will both travel to AFCON 2024.

Bentancur’s early return is a welcome boost for Postecoglou, who will be without midfield options for a few weeks.

Though he has only made five appearances under Postecoglou because of injuries, the £19 million man has shown himself to be a classy operator during his time in north London.
