Benjamin Rollheiser of Estudiantes is about to complete his transfer to Benfica, despite Burnley, Newcastle, and Sheffield United of the Premier League expressing interest in him. Carlos Espinoza, the winger’s agent, provided this information.
Rollheiser has been compared to Lionel Messi because of his tendency to cut in from the right onto his left boot; nevertheless, some people think that Angel di Maria would be a more fitting comparison.
Last season, Angel di Maria returned to Benfica for a second stint. But the 35-year-old Portuguese powerhouses want to replace their experienced winger with Rollheiser, a younger player who is 12 years Di Maria’s junior.
In recent months, Rollheiser has drawn interest from Sheffield United, Newcastle, and Burnley. However, Espinoza appears to be dasheing the aspirations of the three Premier League players as Benfica once again signs one of the most gifted players in the South American market.
Globe Esporte was informed by Rollheiser’s agency that “we are closing with Benfica.”
Rollheiser had a stellar 2023 season for Estudiantes in Argentina, tallying 12 goals and dishing out eight assists.
I found it odd that Sheffield United was first connected to this talented young Argentinean player. While it’s encouraging to see the Blades exploring the South American market, it does feel like a waste of time given the greatest players would never come our way.
