Dallas Cowboys Defender to Aid Rivals For Playoff Push

As the season approaches its last week, the Green Bay Packers are once more in a “win and in” scenario. Last season, in the last week of the season that saw them eliminated from the playoffs, the Packers were defeated by the Detroit Lions. They will have the same situation this year, but it will be against the Chicago Bears.

Before the season’s most important game, the Packers made the decision to add a defense who was previously with the Dallas Cowboys. On January 1, 2023, the Green Bay Packers added S Tyler Coyle to the practice squad. On May 14, 2021, the Dallas Cowboys signed Coyle (6-1, 209), a first-year player out of Purdue, as an undrafted free agent.

He played in three games, earning six solo tackles on defense and three special teams stops throughout his two seasons on the Cowboys practice squad and active roster. Dallas let Coyle go following the 2023 training camp. Prior to participating in the 2020 Purdue season, he attended the University of Connecticut for four years, from 2016 to 2019. For the Packers, Coyle will don the number 24.

The first thing that jumps out is the Relative Athletic Score (RAS) for Coyle:

One prospect for the 2021 draft class is SS Tyler Coyle. On a scale of 10 to 10, he received a RAS score of 9.83. In the 754 SS from 1987 to 2021, this was placed 14th.

Tyler Coyle, a gifted defender, attended Connecticut for the most of his collegiate career. He had two interceptions and 67 tackles in his rookie campaign.

In his first season, Coyle racked up 109 tackles in 2018. He continued to perform well in 2019, recording 86 tackles and one interception.

Following that, Tyler moved to Purdue University. Over the course of four games, he made 13 tackles. Several NFL teams had interest in Coyle, who eventually signed with the Dallas Cowboys in 2021.

It will be interesting to see if Coyle can make a name for himself in Green Bay.
