Nottingham Forest on advantage here

Andrey Santos, a midfielder for Chelsea, is getting attention from Crystal Palace as he is ready to leave Nottingham Forest on loan.

Only 97 minutes of first-team football have been played by the Brazilian since his summer transfer to the City Ground.

He played in both Forest’s 3-0 Premier League loss to Liverpool in October and their August NFL Cup loss to Burnley.

FIFA only allows clubs to have seven foreign loanees, and Chelsea currently has seven players, thus Santos, 19, can only transfer to another English team.

In January 2023, Mauricio Pochettino’s team paid £18 million to acquire the midfield player from Vasco de Gama, defeating numerous other Premier League teams, such as Manchester City and Newcastle, to get his services.

He signed with Forest in the summer of last year, but neither under Steve Cooper nor under their new manager Nuno Espirito Santo did he get any playing time.

The 19-year-old played in Brazil’s 2-1 loss to Morocco in March of last year, earning his first senior cap.

In the meanwhile, Roy Hodgson might turn to Santos as midfield depth after Cheick Doucoure had an achilles rupture in November, which might keep him out of the game for the whole season.

Zak Sturge has been brought back from Peterborough, while Alex Matos, a winger for Chelsea, is going on loan to Huddersfield Town.

The 19-year-old Chelsea summer signing, who had attended Norwich Academy, made his Premier League debut in October when the team defeated Fulham 2-0.
