Great News for Oklahoma Sooners as players are….

The Oklahoma Sooners are well-represented on the full rosters for the 2024 Pro Bowl Games, which were released by the NFL on Wednesday. The format of this year’s Pro Bowl has changed from the classic one that longtime fans are accustomed to, to a “week-long celebration of player skills featuring an exciting new format that spotlights flag football.”

Oklahoma has the third-most players of any college program with five overall selections to the Pro Bowl Games.

Three of the five players chosen were offensive lineman, carrying on the Sooners’ longstanding reputation as one of the NFL’s best trench teams. The Sooners’ front-line players will be Trent Williams of the San Francisco 49ers, Lane Johnson of the Philadelphia Eagles, and Creed Humphrey of the Kansas City Chiefs.

While Johnson and Williams are still dominant far into their later years in the NFL, Humphrey is in his third season there.

Apart from the offensive line, the Sooners selected two wide receivers for the Pro Bowl: Dallas Cowboys’ CeeDee Lamb and Denver Broncos’ Marvin Mims. Lamb, who is currently second in the NFL in receiving yards, first in receptions, and fourth in touchdowns, has had one of the best seasons in the league and has broken multiple Cowboys records, including franchise single-season receptions and yards. With one game remaining, he has 122 catches for 1,651 yards and 10 touchdowns.

As a return specialist, where he has performed exceptionally well for the Broncos this season, Mims was listed. Throughout the season, he has been a dangerous return man. His standout play was a 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown against Miami in Week 3.Among NFL players with at least 10 tries, his average punt return yardage is the highest at 17.4.Mims also had a 26.3 yard average on each kick return.

Despite having outstanding seasons, Baker Mayfield and Jalen Hurts were not selected for the Pro Bowl Games.
