League One team Steals Burnley’s striker.

The striker was acquired by Morecambe during the previous summer transfer window, and the League Two team has found success with him.

Mellon, 20, has contributed two assists and 15 goals in all competitions for the Shrimps, 13 of which have come in the league.

According to The Athletic’s most recent report on his condition, he is’set’ to return to Turf Moor this month and is now coveted by a few Scottish Premiership sides as well as several unidentified third-tier teams.

Former manager Derek Adams, who moved to Ross County with head of recruitment Greg Strong, brought Mellon to Morecambe.

Micky, the child’s father, was once manager of Tranmere Rovers and is presently manager of Oldham Athletic in the National League.

Mellon joined Burnley’s roster in 2019 after progressing through Manchester United’s development system.

Although he hasn’t played for the Clarets at the senior level yet, he has recently been a regular for their Under-18 and Under-21 teams.

The attacker was cleared to go on loan for the first time in January of last year when Morecambe made an approach, and even though they were relegated from League One the previous season, they were still able to entice him back to the Mazuma Stadium in the summer.

Burnley will be eager for Mellon to push himself to new heights now that he has established himself with the Shrimps. This winter, a league promotion would accelerate his growth.
