Good news; As Leeds united welcomes a new player

The USA squad revealed on January 9th, on their official X website, that McGrath had joined the South Carolina Men’s Soccer team.

After rising through Leeds’ development levels, the 18-year-old signed a two-and-a-half-year contract to become the West Yorkshire club’s first professional player less than a year ago (Leeds Live, 18 February 2023).

In his 27 Under-18 Premier League outings while playing for the Whites, McGrath scored nine goals and assisted on four others. He also made three appearances in the FA Youth Cup.

Leeds supporters may feel angry that the team let McGrath escape their control, as well as maybe even Daniel Farke himself.

He signed his first professional contract with Leeds not too long ago, so many may be surprised to learn that he has already made the decision to go on and seek out other pastures.

Over the last several years, McGrath has been a fixture for the club’s Under-18 team. He has also represented the Republic of Ireland at the Under-19 level and England at the Under-15 and 16 levels. He hasn’t played football for the team this season, despite the fact that he is obviously a talented potential.

Young talent is frequently allowed go by clubs, who later regret their choice. Leeds will be hoping that McGrath is one of those few exceptions, as he will now seek to disprove his childhood prejudice with this newfound opportunity.
