Leicester City star player to leave club for….

Ward transferred from English powerhouse Liverpool to the King Power Stadium in 2018 for an alleged £12.5 million; however, according to Transfermarkt, his market worth is currently only £3 million. But because Kasper Schmeichel was keeping the number one spot between the posts, the Wales international was forced to spend his first four years with the Foxes on the bench.

Ward made 19 appearances in all competitions in his first four seasons at Leicester City, but the goalie’s big break came in 2022 when Schmeichel was traded to Nice of France. When the Foxes were down to the Championship, the former Wrexham goalie appeared in 26 Premier League games.

Nevertheless, when Dean Smith took over the team at the end of the 2022–2023 season, Daniel Iversen replaced Ward in the starting lineup. Since then, the Welshman has struggled to return to the starting lineup and hasn’t played for the previous Premier League winners this year.

The Sun revealed over the weekend that Sheffield United, a struggling team in the top division, was eager to improve its goalkeeping staff and saw Ward as the ideal candidate to do so while on loan for the duration of the season.

“Sheffield United and Leicester City are interested in discussing a trade for goalkeeper Danny Ward. The Blades are looking to add a goalkeeper this season, and one player they are considering is former Leicester keeper Kasper Schmeichel, according to a report from Sky Sports News.

However, Ward is reportedly higher on incoming manager Chris Wilder’s list of contenders, according to Sky Sports News. He is eager to transfer to a place where he can play more first-team football because his only appearances this season have been on the international stage for Wales. He is also probably going to receive a lower salary.

It will be interesting to see whether head coach Enzo Maresca allows Ward to leave on loan or not this winter, although the Italian has already admitted that the club will discuss a potential exit once they receive an offer for the keeper.

However, Leicester City have already allowed Iversen to head to Stoke City on loan since the January window opened up, meaning it could be risky to let another keeper leave the club without a replacement.
