Bad news; They can’t play again

These four could be the ones Harry Souttar is trailing out of King Power Stadium.

The fact that Leicester City’s team is just too strong for the Championship is causing certain players some problems.

With ten points to spare at the top of the second division standings, the Foxes appear ready to make a run at the Premier League. A management change and a clever summer transfer window have rejuvenated a team that appeared worn out and uninspired when it came down to it.

This team has been greatly enhanced with the arrivals of Stephy Mavididi on the flank, Harry Winks in midfield, and goalie Mads Hermansen. But some of the players who were already there have been impacted by their recruitment.

Harry Souttar has mostly served as a bench warmer this season despite finishing the club’s relegation season in the Premier League as one of their regular starts after arriving from Stoke City in January 2023 for £15 million. Only one league game has he started, and it came against his old team in the beginning of October.

One of Scotland’s biggest football teams, Rangers, reportedly showed interest in the 25-year-old defender during the summer. This information was reported by the Daily Record. A contract between the Gers and the Foxes was not reached, and Souttar remained in place since the Glasgow-based team was unable to move on fellow center defender Ben Davies in the summer. He could try to make a January move due to his lack of playing time, and he’s not the only Fox who could depart before the end of the month.

The bunch of strikers that Enzo Maresca has available to him is absurd. In addition to the Nigerian international, they have Tom Cannon, Jamie Vardy, and Patson Daka, all of whom have the potential to be solid members of a Premier League club. The current season’s contract for the 27-year-old former Manchester City forward expires, and there have been rumors circulating that the Foxes are open to receiving proposals in the neighborhood of £10 million.

Football Insider, who has previously connected Iheanacho to current Champions League placeholders Aston Villa, reports this. Crystal Palace, who backed out of a summer contract to sign the striker after failing to find a new home for Jean-Phillipe Mateta, has also been linked to the player. There may be a window of opportunity in London because the French forward is said to still desire to leave the Eagles. TEAMtalk has connected Brentford to a transfer for Iheanacho somewhere in London.

The Nigerian player is expected to attract a lot of interest in the January transfer window, and Leicester is content to release their joint-third highest earning on their books—according to Capology—and get compensation in exchange.

Similar to Iheanacho, this Belgian international has a contract that expires at the conclusion of the current campaign and possesses the necessary skills to play for a Premier League team. Praet has participated in significant international competitions such as the Europa League and the Champions League, but under Maresca, he has only been deployed in five Championship games.

The Foxes would still have more than enough talent in midfield to win the rest of the season even if Praet left in January. Given that his contract is gradually expiring, it wouldn’t be shocking if Leicester attempted to capitalize on him now.

Since Leicester’s roster is nearly full, they must make room in a few places where there is a significant backlog. Between the posts is one of those spaces. In the first week of the window, Daniel Iversen was loaned out to Stoke City, although Maresca still has four senior goalkeepers in his roster.

Ward is among the goalkeepers who the Premier League is showing an interest in. The Yorkshire Post reports that Chris Wilder, the new manager of the Blades, is trying to expand his team’s choices in goal, and Sky Sports reports that Ward is one of those options. However, talkSPORT claims that the Yorkshire-based team is also taking Kasper Schmeichel, a former City player, into consideration.
