Burnley key player leaves for…

According to a Daily Mirror update (10/1; 2:09pm), Burnley would be willing to cash in on Connor Roberts during the January transfer window in order to finance January signings at Turf Moor.

Last season, when the Clarets secured a return to the Premier League at the first attempt, the Welshman was among the first names on the roster.

His impact allowed him to keep players like Vitinho out of the starting lineup, which benefited Vincent Kompany’s team and increased their chances of winning that promotion. His contributions in all three areas of the pitch also helped.

Roberts, a Wales international who began the season in the first eleven but has subsequently spent some time on the bench, appears to have fallen behind the latter in the hierarchy.

Given that his contract expires at Turf Moor next year, this has raised concerns about his future there.

Even though he still has 18 months left on his deal, the Clarets appear ready to let him go if they can sign other players.

Leeds United now needs to fill the vacuum left by Djed Spence’s return to Tottenham Hotspur.

But because the Whites had little choices at the club, he played left-back even when he was there.

The injuries sustained by Sam Byram are well known, and Junior Firpo hasn’t had the ideal season at Elland Road either.

Byram may return to the left side and play there for the whole of the season, but he might be a right-back option.

If such is the case, Daniel Farke’s team is severely lacking in options on the right, as Luke Ayling just finalized a move to Middlesbrough yesterday.

If they don’t fix that, it can end up being a weak point for the rest of the season.

If they can reach an agreement, Roberts would be a great addition.

He is not only capable of making a major impact in the closing third, which can only help Leeds, but he has also won promotions in the Championship.

If a transfer to Elland Road is approved, he will also be trying to convince Kompany of why he shouldn’t have let him leave, so the Welshman will have plenty of incentive to continue and succeed at Elland Road.
