Sad news to Toronto blue jays

The Boston Red Sox have surpassed the Toronto Blue Jays and Seattle Mariners to become the front-runners to sign free agency slugger Jorge Soler, according to Insider Hector Gomez.

It looks like the Seattle Mariners and Toronto Blue Jays may miss out on signing free agency slugger Jorge Soler.

Insider Hector Gomez claims that the Boston Red Sox are now the front-runner.

SOURCE: The #RedSox have been talking about OF/DH Jorge Soler extremely aggressively over the past few hours. They currently seem to be the favorites to sign him.

The Cuban standout player continues to get attention from the #BlueJays, #Mariners, and #Diamondbacks.

After Teoscar Hernandez signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Red Sox are said to have increased their efforts.

The Soler interest with the Red Sox is dubious, much like it was with Hernandez. They already have Tyler O’Neill, Masataka Yoshida, Rob Refsnyder, Jarren Duran, Wilyer Abreu, and Ceddanne Rafaela, therefore they don’t require an outfield player. They do, however, need pitching, so it makes sense to add Soler if it enables them to trade for one of the aforementioned guys. It’s an odd fit if it doesn’t.

If Soler winds up in Boston, the Seattle Mariners’ offseason would suffer a severe hit. Since Mitch Haniger and Luke Raley were signed this summer, Seattle is in dire need of a power hitter to replace Eugenio Suarez and Hernandez. Soler would be a huge acquisition.

Soler might be used by Toronto to take Matt Chapman’s production, as Chapman is presently a free agency.

For the Miami Marlins last season, Soler blasted 36 home runs. In order to test the market, he chose to forego the balance of his contract with Miami.

The soon-to-be 32-year-old also has 48 home runs during the Royals’ 2019 season. The American League was led by that. In addition, he has won two World Series and would offer postseason experience to whatever team he contracts.

Last season, Soler had an on-base percentage of.341 and hit.250.
