Bad News; He can’t play again

Elliot Thorpe, a young midfielder for Luton, had his loan agreement terminated by Shrewsbury Town due to a recurrence of a back problem.

The 23-year-old has previously collaborated with head coach Matt Taylor  while the two were teammates at Tottenham Hotspur. However, he had to wait until November to make his club debut due to a pre-season injury.

After playing 90 minutes in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy match, when the U’s defeated Walsall 3-2, Thorpe’s back issue flared up once more, therefore the Shrews decided to terminate his season-long loan early.

“The loan has ended but that is purely and simply down to the fact that, unfortunately, Elliot had a recurrence of his injury,” stated head coach and former Luton player Matt Taylor. It is very disheartening that Elliot’s plan has failed.

Knowing him as I do, I felt that he would have been a fantastic addition to the group, so when we signed him, I knew he would play a significant role in what we planned to accomplish this season. Nobody is to blame for it. It is regrettable that it did not prove beneficial for him.

“We hope the best for him. For the past several weeks, he has returned to Luton to continue his recuperation. Whether or not he is healthy and available in January, I believe it will be close to the wire. With the amount of injuries we had, we are not in a situation where we could afford to take a chance on what we couldn’t accomplish.

Elliot finds it challenging because his fans were unable to see him. He feels incredibly let down. When we talked, he was really sensitive. I do know, though, that he will be encouraging the guys. The user is not able to log in.
