Crystal palace looses player worth £39m

Borja Mayoral from Getafe is still a player Crystal Palace is interested in signing, and new rumors indicate an offer may be in the works.

Even though it’s only January 11th, Crystal Palace’s January striker quest has already proven incredibly taxing.

Eddie Nketiah’s story appears to go on forever, as rumors from today indicate that Palace was considering making a £30 million offer.

Turning away It appears that Jean-Philippe Mateta is no longer eager to leave, as there is no longer any noise in the area.

However, Getafe striker Borja Mayoral, who we said was a potential Palace alternative last month, is still a possibility.

A new development regarding the forward indicates that, even with Arsenal’s defeat, Palace might be open to making a bid.

Borja Mayoral is Crystal Palace’s first priority.
The Mirror said early on Thursday that Arsenal’s £22 million offer for Mayoral had just been turned down. But Palace hasn’t let it deter them.

TeamTalk claims that Mayoral is still very much on Palace’s mind and that they are even prepared to make a bid if The Eagles prioritize improving the No. 9 spot.

The Mirror quoted a sum of £39 million, which is a staggering amount, but it’s easy to understand why they set it as only Jude Bellingham has scored more points than Getafe in La Liga this year. Getafe apparently said Arsenal they would take this payment.

Palace should be able to pay the asking price if they can divide the £39 million into installments or use add-ons to cover the majority of the cost. After all, the Nketiah piece had an estimated £30 million in available funds.

For Getafe, Mayoral has been on fire.
In just 19 La Liga appearances, the 26-year-old has scored 12 goals and provided an assist, demonstrating that he is in his prime. This form makes it obvious why Zinedine Zidane thought so highly of the forward.

Back when Mayoral was rising through the ranks at the Bernabeu, the venerable Frenchman linked the striker to another Real Madrid star, Raul.

He is unquestionably the kind of player Michael Olise could flourish alongside and perhaps start contributing assists once more rather than simply goals.

The upside of the Nketiah pursuit is that Steve Parish may now attempt to sign long-term target Mayoral without any justification.
