NASHVILLE—Baltimore Ravens’ defensive coordinator Mike MacDonald on Saturday became the fourth candidate to interview for the Tennessee Titans’ coaching vacancy. MacDonald’s interview was conducted virtually because NFL rules require teams to wait until January 22nd to conduct in-person interviews. This opening was created after Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk fired Mike Vrabel. The Ravens had the No.1 scoring defense in the league this season with MacDonald as the coordinator. He previously served in Baltimore for seven seasons, from 2014 to 2020.
MacDonald held various positions with the Ravens, including linebackers coach (2018-20), defensive backs coach (2017), defensive assistant (2015-16), and defensive coaching intern (2014). He spent the 2021 season as Michigan’s defensive coordinator before returning to the Ravens. The Titans interviewed Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan and Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka on Friday for the job. Las Vegas Raiders interim coach Antonio Pierce interviewed on Saturday prior to MacDonald. The Titans have requested interviews with at least nine coaches: Callahan, Kafka, Pierce, Macdonald, the Detroit Lions’ Aaron Glenn and Ben Johnson, the Dallas Cowboys’ Dan Quinn, the Houston Texans’ Bobby Slowik, and the Philadelphia Eagles’ Brian Johnson.
