Ryan Poles, the general manager of the Chicago Bears, devoted a significant portion of his post-season press conference to outlining his forthcoming decision-making process over the quarterback position.
Apart from selecting a quarterback in the draft or sticking with Justin Fields, Poles has a lot of other roster decisions to make.
The five players and positions that Poles addressed last week are listed below.
The only Bears player to be recognized was Johnson, who just finished his fourth season with the team. Johnson was chosen to the Associated Press All-Pro second team on Friday. Earlier in January, he and defensive end Montez Sweat were recognized as two Bears Pro Bowlers.
Following a stellar career season in which he allowed a league-best 33.3 passer rating in 14 games, Pro Football Focus reports that Johnson had four interceptions, including a pick-six, ten passes defended, 36 tackles, and a forced fumble.
If the Bears don’t sign Johnson to an extension or apply the franchise or transition tag to him, he will be a frBefore the midseason trade deadline, Poles attempted to negotiate an extension with Johnson; however, negotiations went down, and Johnson asked for authorization to pursue a trade.
