Miami Dolphins Cut Underperforming $65 Million Veteran

According to Over the Cap, the Miami Dolphins are expected to be $42 million in the red going into the 2024 offseason. This means they’ll have to cut a significant amount of payroll before the next league year starts in March. On January 15, ESPN’s Aaron Schatz made a prediction about one possible cap casualty.

Schatz projected for Miami that “the Dolphins will cut edge rusher Emmanuel Ogbah, who has played a smaller role this season.” “In no game has he participated in more than 40% of the defensive snaps. Miami will save $13.8 million on the cap for the following year by cutting Ogbah, leaving only $4 million in dead money.

For the Dolphins, this move feels like a very real possibility. After nine consecutive campaigns of being benched in 2020 and 2021, Ogbah was awarded a huge $65.4 million deal in 2022. Regretfully, since then, nothing has gone well.
