Recently, the San Francisco 49ers have been idle, getting ready for their postseason debut in the hopes that it will serve as a springboard to their sixth Super Bowl triumph.
They have been locked on five championships for almost thirty years, but right now they have the best team they have had since the incredible 1994 season that produced their fifth world championship.
Star running back Christian McCaffrey, whom they acquired in a trade in the middle of the previous season, has been a major factor in their recent success.
Because of McCaffrey’s preparation, San Francisco’s run game coordinator Chris Foerster referred to him as a “generational-type” athlete, according to NBC Sports.
According to Foerster, McCaffrey’s preparation is on par with that of Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning and offensive tackle Jonathan Ogden, who were both under his tutelage in the past.
Before missing the team’s final regular-season game, the Niners running back led the NFL with 1,459 rushing yards, 14 rushing touchdowns, and seven receiving scores.
He is the clear favorite to win Offensive Player of the Year after being selected to the Pro Bowl and the All-Pro First Team.
In addition to being a strong runner, McCaffrey is a genuine dual-threat tailback who can line up as a wide receiver and run routes in addition to receiving screen passes.
In the 49ers’ Divisional playoff matchup with the young Green Bay Packers on Saturday, McCaffrey will try to capitalize on a Packers defense that ranked just 28th in terms of running yards allowed in the regular season.
