Terry Rozier, a former guard for the Boston Celtics, might be moving at the NBA Trade Deadline. The Charlotte Hornets “have all players available outside of LaMelo Ball, Brandon Miller, and Mark Williams,” according to Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports. Fischer disclosed Rozier’s preferred trade partner should they proceed with those intentions.
In a piece published on January 17, Fischer stated, “Terry Rozier’s strong play has made the combo guard a more viable trade candidate than ever at his $24 million average annual salary, with a known preference to join the Miami Heat.”
At 8-30, the Hornets’ chances of qualifying for the play-in round on their own are currently extremely slim. The Heat may have a better chance of making the playoffs if Rozier is traded to them. With Rozier, they would have a more potent offensive point guard to complement Jimmy Butler, who is younger. In a game against the Celtics, his firsthand knowledge of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown’s styles of play may be advantageous. Fischer did not say whether the Heat had the same sentiments.
Prior to being traded to the Hornets, Rozier was a player with the Celtics from 2015 to 2019. Rozier did a fantastic job stepping in as the Celtics point guard during the 2018 playoffs, despite the years that had passed.
Rozier averaged 16.5 points, 5.7 assists, and 5.3 assists in 19 games. Rozier also shot 34.7% from three and 40.6% from the field. During his tenure with the Hornets, Rozier has emerged as a star. According to NBA.com, he’s averaging 24 points, 6.7 assists, 3.7 rebounds, and a field goal percentage of 46.1% and 38.3% from three during the 2023–24 campaign.
Terry Rozier may be traded by the Charlotte Hornets, but not to the Miami Heat. It turns out that Rozier has also been connected to the New York Knicks, another rival team of the Celtics.
Rozier was mentioned by Brian Lewis of the New York Post as one of the players the Knicks are watching. Malcolm Brogdon, a former Celtics guard, is also on the list.
In an article published on January 17, Winfield stated, “They have been linked to several players available on the trade market, including Atlanta’s Dejounte Murray, Portland’s Malcolm Brogdon, Detroit’s Bojan Bogdanovic, and Charlotte’s Terry Rozier.”
